In the room

What a class looks like.

Strength

Squats, deadlifts, presses and pulls, taught properly, with the weight added a little at a time. Most teens have never been shown how to lift. This is where they learn.

Speed and conditioning

Acceleration and change of direction on the turf, jumps, sled and bike work. Faster and fitter, whatever they do with it.

Movement quality

Every session starts with mobility, stability and coordination work, so they move well before they move fast or heavy.

Ten kids, one coach

Trevor watches every rep. Your teen gets corrected and pushed, not handed a workout sheet.

For parents

Why parents pick the Academy.

  3. 3Ten kids max, ages 12 to 18 only.No adults mixed in, and nobody gets lost at the back.
  4. 4Prices are on this page.Every price is below, from $25 for a drop-in to $275 for four days a week.No contract, and no phone call to find out what it costs.
  5. 5The first class is free, and you can train too.Adult classes start at 6:00 PM, right after the 5:00 Academy class, in the same room.Several Academy parents already do this. One trip.

Certified Personal Trainer, Founder of TCT Gym

10+ years coaching teens. Trevor started TCT so kids could get coached properly: small groups, sessions programmed in advance, and a coach who watches every rep. He knows every kid's name, their goals, and what they need to work on.

"The goal isn't to survive the workout. It's to leave better than you walked in."

"Most of these kids haven't been taught how to lift. Once we fix that, the strength and the speed take care of themselves."

Parent questions

What parents ask first.

Yes, when it is coached.Teens get hurt lifting when nobody teaches them technique and they add too much weight too soon.At the Academy every lift is taught first, the weight goes up a little at a time, and the coach watches every rep in a class of ten.Bodyweight and light weights come before anything heavy.Read the full answer, with the research

Two is where most teens start: Monday and Wednesday, or Tuesday and Thursday. That matches the American Academy of Pediatrics advice of two to three days a week with a day off in between. Some come three or four times once they've been training a while.Read the full answer, with the guidelines

No.Part of the room plays a sport and the rest come to get strong, fit and confident.Everyone does the same program, scaled to where they are.Read the full answer

Fifty minutes.A warm-up of mobility and movement work, a strength block (squat, hinge, press, pull), then speed or conditioning work to finish.Trevor coaches every rep.

12 to 18.We do not train kids under 12.From 18 they can move to the adult classes, which run right after.
